The new Volkswagen Golf GTI will be available in three trims with two engine options. The base model has a 2-liter gasoline turbo engine and 6-speed manual transmission that produces 228 hp and 258 lb.-ft. of torque. However, the upgraded model has a 2-liter Turbo and 7-speed DSG® automatic transmission with Tiptronic® and Sport mode that makes 241 hp and 273 lb.-ft. of torque.
