What are the differences between 2018 VW Passat trims?

When you look at the above chart, one important thing to keep in mind is that features typically build upon one another. That is to say, the features you see in the S trim will be added to or upgraded in the R-Line. On exception is the new GT trim, which loses some features found in the SE with Technology. For example, the GT doesn’t have built-in navigation or heated rear seats and loses some driver’s assistance technology. This is because the GT trim puts the focus on performance and style, rather than upscale features.

Another key thing to consider? Engine options. All trims but the GT are available with the 2.0-liter 4-cylinder TSI, and upgrade from the 1.8-liter from the previous model year. This engine offers 174 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. The GT comes standard with the 3.6-liter VR6, an engine which boasts a 280 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque output. This engine is also available on the SEL Premium trim.
