What is the warranty on the 2018 VW Atlas?
As a new model, there are plenty of things we consider first. Pricing, features, interior space, power options – there are plenty of specs to compare and consider, but one often gets left behind: the warranty. Volkswagen has made the warranty for the 2018 VW Atlas one that is not worth ignoring, as it proves to be the best transferable warranty for an SUV in the American market.
How long is the warranty for the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas?
Most manufacturers break their warranties down into a basic warranty and a powertrain warranty. You’ll note that many competitors – Ford, Honda, Toyota, Nissan – offer a 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty and a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty.
Volkswagen is offering a bumper-to-bumper warranty, which combines the basic and powertrain warranty, of 6-years/72,000-miles. The warranty ends with whichever number is hit first, but it’s a superior warranty for SUV coverage. You’ll feel secure knowing that repairs are covered against defects for the powertrain, transmission and optional 4Motion system. Naturally, owners are responsible for maintenance, but it’s reassuring to know that should any system fail prematurely through a defect or normal wear and tear during the warranty period, you won’t be held responsible for the costs.
The Volkswagen 6-year/72,000-mile warranty is applied to both the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas and the upcoming 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan. It is a transferrable warranty, which means that should you decide to sell the vehicle three years down the road, the new owner is able to take advantage of the same coverage.
We know that warranty coverage isn’t what most shoppers like to consider when buying a new vehicle, but when you see warranty issues pop up in the news, it help to know you won’t be disappointed should an issue arise.
