Every vehicle nameplate eventually has to come to an end, even those you thought might last forever. There are plenty of examples of this through the years and decades, but there are still quite a few that we might never expect to leave us. The Corvette. The Mustang. The Wrangler. The Beetle. These are seemingly timeless nameplates, but the time has come for at least one. Volkswagen has officially announced the end of the VW Beetle. The slug bug will be discontinued after the 2019 model year after more than eight decades on the road. Bidding farewell, the manufacturer put together the video below. Enjoy.

2019 Volkswagen Beetle Final Edition SE and SEL

Say it ain’t so: the VW Beetle is about to go. That’s right, for the second time the model is being discontinued. We can’t say it’s too much of a shock since rumors have been circulating for at least six months. Still, it doesn’t make us any less sad to see it become official. Fortunately, there is some warning.
