Eight Volkswagen Vehicles Offer Revolutionary All-Wheel Drive System

Availability of Volkswagen 4Motion All-Wheel Drive in 2017
In the last couple of years, Volkswagen’s 4Motion all-wheel drive system has been picking up a great deal of steam for its ability to deliver not only added traction, but increased performance as well. As the system has spiked in popularity, there are more and more Volkswagen vehicles that are now being offered with 4Motion all-wheel drive. In fact, the total number of models equipped with the technology has never been higher than it will be in 2017. There are eight total models being released this year that will offer AWD.
Here are the 2017 and 2018 models that will be available with 4Motion all-wheel drive this year:
- Atlas
- CC
- Golf Alltrack
- Golf GTI
- Golf R
- Golf SportWagen
- Tiguan
- Touareg
If we were to do this same article, but do it at the same time last year, there would be two vehicles missing from the list above: The Atlas and the Golf Alltrack. The former was released late last year, and the latter has yet to be released. Its release date is scheduled for spring, so it will be a little bit before we’re able to put the AWD capabilities of the new SUV through the paces. We know it will be worth the wait though.
Benefits of Volkswagen 4Motion All-Wheel Drive
There are a number of benefits of 4Motion all-wheel drive. As we mentioned earlier, it has the ability to increase traction by recognizing wheel slip and by sending engine torque to the wheels that need it most, but it also has the ability to conserve fuel. Unlike a four-wheel drive vehicle, not all four wheels are put into motion at one time. Volkswagen vehicles operate in front-wheel drive until there is a loss of traction, which turns on the AWD system and allows torque to be directed to both the front and the rear wheels.
