2016 Volkswagen Best Features

With the 2016 Volkswagen models set to arrive at dealerships sometime in the next few months, now’s a great time to highlight some of the incoming class’s most promising features.

The App-Connect feature will allow smartphone users to integrate their mobile devices with their vehicles. This will increase drivers’ attention to the road, as they will be able to access important information from their phone without having to take their eyes off the road. Volkswagen is adopting three interface options for drivers: Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, and MirrorLink®—to ensure the maximum number of smartphone users are able to use the system. Google Maps will provide voice navigation. Additionally, several third-party apps, such as Skype and Spotify, will also be made available. Volkswagen is also developing its own apps for App-Connect. This comes as part of Volkswagen’s expanding Modular Infotainment Platform (MIB II).

Regular-Grade Fuel Compatibility

Almost all of Volkswagen’s 2016 models will come with a recommendation for using regular- instead of premium-grade fuel. Over the past few years, regular and premium gasoline have seen a significant increase in price difference. Only a few years ago, premium ran about 20-30 cents per gallon more than regular. But that difference has now increased to at least 50 cents in many places. This shift to regular-grade gas will save 2016 Volkswagen hundreds of dollars every year at the pump.

Beetle and Jetta Get Automatic Post-Collision Braking System

Some of the worst damage caused in accidents is what happens after the initial collision. This makes the Automatic Post-Collision Braking System crucial to driver and passenger safety. After a collision, the system applies the brakes to reduce the vehicle’s speed, potentially minimizing further damage often incurred in secondary and tertiary collisions. Expanding this feature is a win for everyone on the roads.
